About the Journal

Interaction, Community Engagement, and Social Environment (ICESE) is a leading peer-reviewed and open-access journal, published by Institute for Advanced Social, Science, and Sustainable Future (IASSSF), Jakarta, Indonesia, with e-ISSN: 3025-0293. ICESE is published twice a year (January and July), and all articles published are available online with open access.

 

Aims

ICESE is a peer-reviewed and open-access journal that focuses on the scholarly exploration and research within the field of social environments, particularly in the context of sustainability. The journal is committed to advancing knowledge through the publication of high-quality research that delves into methods, practices, action research, and the exploration of cross-cutting issues relevant to social environments.

 

Focus

ICESE focuses on the publication of articles that explore the intersection of community engagement and social environments, with an emphasis on sustainability. The journal encourages submissions that offer critical perspectives, case studies, and best practices that can contribute to better understanding and strategies for addressing current and emerging challenges in the field.

 

Scope

This journal seeks to publish a broad range of scholarly articles, including:

  1. Civic Engagement and Participatory Development       
    Case studies on community mobilization, bottom-up planning, and democratic involvement in environmental initiatives. These demonstrate how inclusive participation strengthens sustainability outcomes.
  2. Community-based Environmental Governance                               
    Studies exploring participatory approaches in managing environmental resources involving communities, governments, and stakeholders. These examine how local communities serve as primary drivers of environmental sustainability.
  3. Sociocultural Dynamics in Environmental Contexts    
    Insights into how cultural norms, behaviors, and social structures influence and respond to environmental challenges. This explores the reciprocal relationship between society and environmental conditions.
  4. Cross-sectoral Collaboration for Sustainability              
    Research highlighting partnerships among academia, government, industry, and civil society in addressing complex environmental challenges. This includes examination of collaborative frameworks that enhance environmental problem-solving effectiveness.
  5. Social Conflict and Community-based Resolution        
    Analyses of environmental disputes and the role of local wisdom and participation in conflict resolution. These examine how traditional knowledge systems contribute to sustainable conflict management.
  6. Cultural Identity and Environmental Stewardship         
    Exploration of cultural traditions, values, and practices supporting ecological protection and social harmony. This investigates how cultural heritage influences environmental conservation approaches.
  7. Social Justice in Environmental Development  
    Critical perspectives on inequality, policy impacts, and protection of vulnerable groups in sustainability agendas. This addresses how environmental initiatives can promote or undermine social equity.
  8. Environmental Education and Behavioral Change         
    Studies on education, awareness, and communication strategies fostering eco-friendly mindsets and actions. These examine how knowledge transforms into sustainable practices across diverse populations.
  9. Religion, Spirituality, and Environmental Engagement               
    Studies on how religious teachings, spiritual practices, and faith-based institutions influence ecological awareness, promote sustainable behaviors, and strengthen community involvement in environmental governance and sustainable development.

All articles in this issue (5 original research articles) were authored/co-authored by researchers from 3 (three) countries, namely Indonesia, Ghana, and Bangladesh, representing 6 (six) provinces: Southeast Sulawesi, West Java, East Java (Indonesia), Upper West Region, Greater Accra Region (Ghana), and Patuakhali (Bangladesh). Institutional affiliations are located in Kendari, Wa, Accra, Dumki, Bandung, Kediri and Bojonegoro.
